Richard Francis before a massive snowbank on July 15, 2006. At an elevation of around 8,000 ft. near the Mt Lassen Summit Trailhead, this is what happens when snowfall exceeds the rate of melt. This event was localized to the southern Cascade Mountains of northern California and the Sierra Nevada. Similar events over several consecutive years on a hemispheric scale could even launch a new ice age.

Probably the most interesting are numerous pictures associated with the webmaster's profession; he is an exploration geologist.
