Mary Lou McLaughlin, a Director of the Greater Chicago Chapter of Women for International Peace and Arbitration (WIPA), has been an emissary to China for WIPA's project to improve the status of women and girls in China, which WIPA is undertaking at the request of the UN, and on invitation of the All-China Women's Federation.

Her presentation introduces WIPA, describes the Spring Buds project, relates some recent experiences (with slides), and gives a status report on the current situation and progress.

This event is presented in celebration of Asian American Heritage Month.

Drs. Harfoush and Koul are scientists by education and training. They currently work in the financial marketplace as head of the Financial Engineering and Development group at Bank One and Quantitative Research Analyst at ABN-AMRO. Their past lectures have covered topics such as Science in Wall Street, In Search of the Buck, Mysticism and Faith, Money and Spirituality, and Eastern Philosophy.
