Membership of the
Local Spiritual Assembly
The
members of the Local Spiritual Assembly are nine men or women, elected annually
on 21st April, by the entire adult membership of each local Bahá'í community. In
accordance with universally applied Bahá'í electoral principles, there are no
nominations for the members of the Local Spiritual Assembly, nor is
electioneering permitted. Each elector votes for those nine Bahá'í men or
women from the entire local Bahá'í community who he or she judges are best
suited for the post. Moreover, the nine members do not represent specific
constituencies. Each considers himself or herself a representative of the entire
local Bahá'í community.
