History

We come from several districts on the East side of Greater London and the West side of Essex.  We are from all sorts of different backgrounds and like to demonstrate our "unity in diversity".

In 1999 we had a special presentation to mark 100 years of our Faith in the UK.  The Mayor of Havering was present at the meeting, which started with music while the students placed flowers and lanterns in the centre of the room.  A circle round these was formed by the students, who held hands while each said a prayer.  Our youngest class showed pictures of what is seen on pilgrimage in 1999.  Some of the older students pretended to be a few of the first Bahá'ís in this country, one of whom went on pilgrimage in 1989.  Other students then took baskets of rose petals and gave some to all the audience.  Finally we had refreshments and viewed an exhibition which showed further details of Bahá'í pilgrimage.
