Dunfermline Links
Dunfermline is situated to the North of Edinburgh, not far from the Forth Road Bridge.
Dunfermline has many sites of historic interest including Dunfermline Abbey, which comprises the nave of a monastic church dating from the 12th century, with a choir added in the 19th century. It is the resting-place of Robert the Bruce (12741329); a plaque beneath the pulpit marks the spot. A shrine outside is dedicated to Malcolm III and his queen, Margaret, who died of grief three days after her husband in 1093.
Dunfermline Central Library has a large collection of genealogy and local history materials, as well as the more recent archives of the former burghs of the Dunfermline district.
The Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum has excellent displays about the town's famous benefactor.
West Fife Museums Small Gallery and the Pittencrieff House Museum also contain displays about the history of the town.
