BATTLE OF DARKNESS AND LIGHT

According to the Hindu calendar, in respect of the lunar calendar, 25 October 2003, was the darkest or "moonless" night. During this night Hindus all over the world celebrated the festival of light-note that it is yearly events that fall almost in the same period. This festival of light is popularly known as Divali or a ray of light (Deepavalli). This annual tradition goes down the history some 5000 years celebrating the arrival of the Prophet Ram from Sri Lanka where He was exiled for 14 years to Ayodya-India, and He was welcomed by array of light, Ram is portrait in the epic of Ramayana, mentioned in the Century of Light page 70, which has helped devotees to "improve", "console" and "enlighten", the spiritual life, this celebration remind the Hindus of the battle of good and evil and of darkness and light. To Hindus this epic is considered as a source of inspiration, guidance, purification, unification and spiritualization.

Bahá'u'lláh Manifested in the darkest period of human history and a scenario will describe when Bahá'u'lláh entered the City of Ákka He was welcomed by the "banners of light". When the Báb was imprisoned in Makku, Iran, it was dark and now at the shrine of the Báb array of light along the 19 terraces, the Spiritual Center of the World, a source of guidance, inspiration, purification and unification.

The prophet (Avatar) Ram was the seventh incarnation of Vishnu another god-like figure in Hindu mythology, who will incarnate several time to spiritualized people -sixth Avatars preceded Him, the eighth is Buddha, ninth is Krishna and the tenth yet to appear according to Hindu belief.

The appearance of the tenth avatar is mentioned in the Bagavat Gita, another sacred scripture of the Hindus. Shoghi Effendi wrote in God passes by, "To Him in the Bagavat Gita of the Hindus had reflected as the 'Most Great Spirit', the 'Tenth Avatar', the immaculate Manifestation of Krishna" (page 95), Baha'u'llah represent the 10th Avatar.

Regard light metaphorically Bahá'u'lláh wrote "So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth."
