CHILDREN'S CLASSES

The children range in age from several months to fourteen years old. Classes are divided into four age groups: pre-school, elementary, pre-youth (or junior youth) and youth.

The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of the United States has made the education of children, junior youth and youth a focal point of the Five Year Plan (2001-2006). All young Bahá'ís, with respect to their mental, emotional, social and spiritual developments, are encouraged to develop disciplines in praying and studying the Sacred Writings, learning about the three Central Figures of their Faith: The Báb, Baháu'lláh and 'Abdu'l-Bahá, being of service to humanity, sharing the Teachings of their Faith with others and contributing to the Baha'i Funds and the Kingdom Project.

STUDY CIRCLES

The term "Study Circle" is used by Bahá'ís to refer to a gathering for the systematic study of the Baha'i teachings. The Bahá'ís in Marin County use the "Ruhi" curriculum, which was originally developed at the Ruhi Institute in Colombia, but which is now widely used all over the world.

The "Ruhi" curriculum currently has seven books, which may, but need not be, studied in order. Each study circle is led by a trained facilitator.

Ruhi Books:

Book 1: Reflections on the Life of the Spirit
Book 2: Arising to Serve
Book 3: Teaching Children's Classes
Book 4: The Twin Manifestations
Book 5: Youth Animator Course
Book 6: Teaching the Cause
Book 7: Helping Others Study Books 1-6

New study circles form continuously in Marin. Participation is open to all. Because it is best to attend from the beginning, please phone (415) 458-8911 for more information, or to express interest in forming a new study circle with a trained facilitator!

INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS

Informal evenings, (often referred to as "fireside" to which the public are invited to come to ask questions and satisfy their curiosity about the Bahá'í Faith are also held on various days of the week in the Homes of individual members of the community.

Phone (415) 458-8911 and leave a message to ask to be advised of the location of a "fireside" meetings within your area. Alternatively you can e-mail us for this information.
